Dafang Creative Village Project is located in Dafang Village, Jinxi County, Jiangxi Province. Jinxi County is known as "an Ancient Village Museum without walls". This area has very complete ancient village ruins. In this rural revitalization project, the design strives to find a strong balance between new and old, residents and tourists, architecture and art, Chinese culture and Dutch culture, so as to achieve sustainable rural development.
While restoring and renovating the ancient buildings, the design also needs to match relevant facilities, such as watchtowers and restaurants, according to the development needs. The design inspiration of "Wandering Tower" comes from the form of watchtower and dragon totem in ancient China. The name of the tower comes from the poem of Li Bai, a famous Chinese poet, "I wander in song and moon, and I dance in disorder". To express "nostalgia" with a wandering route of climbing the tower is like a wanderer wandering between his hometown and the distant place.
While protecting, it also shows a strong contrast between the old and the new, and between the modern and the history, which is thought-provoking. By redefining space, the design develops open communities with local cultural characteristics, adds new vitality to villages and realizes different possibilities of architectural space.
